  1. I believe this to be supermassively true.

    Challenging to get there though, when back as an ANU undergrad I was typically rewarded, he says adding in an extra parenthetical phrase just to complicate the sentence structure and indeed make the sentence as long as a paragraph, for writing in ever-more-circumlocutious and pretentious academic-ese. And reading philosophers who wrote in a grossly abstruse manner just to make a point, wasn't exactly providing good role models.

    Fortunately, I also had to construct single page civil service memos. Sometimes three-line memos. A brutally joyful economy of words in the service of clarity.
